Vele Di Pasqua 2010 : European season opener

European start of The A-class season took place at Cesenatico.

The same venue the Worlds will be held  end of June .

Traditionally a good and strong fleet was present .  Unless the rather chilly weather and a very cold 'Mare Adriatic' 63 boats showed up.

Besides the strong Italian fleet consisting this year out a whole group of brand new 'Bimare V1-r's (http://www.bimare.org/v1r.htm), there were good entries from Switserland , Holland , Germany and Spain . Also some boats from France, Ireland and GBR made the trip.

5 good races wer held in moderate conditions, varying from 6- 15 knts.  Bob Baier, present European champion was clearly unbeatable. He sailed his Nikita A class  to a perfect score of 4 firsts and a second ...Second came hius Fellow German teammate ,young Thilo Keller, sailing his own design to a secopnd overall.

Third place went to a boat  which was literally in the water for the first time !  The new Dutch  'DNA' design : ( see also

Roeland Wenthold (NED 95) sailed the boat to a  solid score of 5,3,1,8,3   with only a few training hours the two days before the regatta .

The boat showed great potential which was noticed by many competitors .

Chris Field from Britain sailed a good regatta on his Tool . followed by  Arno Terra ( NED)  on the trusty flyer MK2.

Charles Favre from Switzerland  made his com back in the A class after 6 year or so , and showed he still knows how to sail  the 'A'

First  new V1R was well known light weather expert from the home club , Teo di Battista.

The Italians have a good training session to go before the Worlds  to make achance in their home waters.
